THE SITUATION

Most barbell sets are heavy, require lots of space, setup time, and are not portable. This market has seen little innovation over the years and consumers are still purchasing the simplified weights they have been for years. Bowflex recently came out with an adjustable dumbbell which has been gaining market share, but there is no dumbbell/barbell combination on the market.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The EX-BAR comprises of a bar with a rigid core section that has a first end and a second end. It includes a pair of extendible segments that slide along the core. Beginning as a foot long dumbbell with grip, with a simple 180 degree turn on each end and a slight pull, the dumbbell slides open to a barbell which then locks in place for safety.

OBJECTIVES

The developers of the EX-BAR are offering to license the manufacturing and distribution rights to qualified organizations. These organizations should be capable of producing the product and/or accessing the appropriate markets with the product.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

The EX-BAR is the subject of Patent Pending in the United States & Canada. Other territories are being considered on an as needed basis.
