THE SITUATION

Last year 750,000 commercial trucks were sold in the US and Canada with just a manual padlock and key as the only option to lock the rear roll up door. Freight and cargo security is a top priority for all delivery companies. Trucks rear doors being left vulnerable to theft when padlocks are often not used, and there is still no way to auto-lock a cargo truck roll-up door even though average car doors have had auto locks for decades

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Electric Cargo Roll Up Door Lock allows the driver of a commercial truck to lock and unlock the entire truck as casually and easily as you lock and unlock a car. It is easily connected to the cab’s automatic locks, securing your whole truck with just a click. This electric lock was designed as a “plug and play lock” small and compact enough to fit within or behind standard 2 x 6 oval taillight opening. To use, place within or behind a standard 2 x 6 oval taillight opening. Once activated, the actuator plunger moves up and the lock pin pushes out about 2.5 inches via the connected lever assembly locking the door. The lock functions automatically and could also have a key. It is endurable and easy to install for both OEM or aftermarket on any roll up door.

OBJECTIVES

The developers of the Electric Cargo Roll Up Door Lock are offering to license the manufacturing and distribution rights to qualified organizations. These organizations should be capable of producing the product and/or accessing the appropriate markets with the product.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

The Electric Cargo Roll Up Door Lock is the subject of Patent Pending in Canada and the US. Other territories are being considered on an as needed basis.
