THE SITUATION

For many, recycling often involves bags of cans in the garage, trips to the depots to return cans for some incentive and a mountain load of cans. However, the different methods of recycling can either have you tripping on bags, being run over by cans or having to endure smelly depots.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Recycled Package Unit provides a much more environmentally friendly way to recycle without the mess and the smell. It is a portable unit about the size of a toaster oven weighing only about 5 – 8 pounds and can fit anywhere in your home you would like to place it, including the pantry, broom closet or mounted in the garage. Once a can is ready for recycling, simply rinse and insert into the top door on the front side of the unit and push the button. That triggers the release of the telescopic compactor, which crushes the can and sends it into the wire basin located on the bottom door. Once the desired weight is reached, the sensors at the bottom of the unit prevents any more compactors. Excess fluid is collected in the catch basin which is then drained at a later time. It keeps the house and makes recycling easy and enjoyable.

OBJECTIVES

The developers of the Recycled Package Unit are offering to license the manufacturing and distribution rights to qualified organizations. These organizations should be capable of producing the product and/or accessing the appropriate markets with the product.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

The Recycled Package Unit is the subject of Patent Pending in Canada and the US. Other territories are being considered on an as needed basis.
