THE SITUATION

Consumers use debit or credit cards for purchases, which often have embedded chips that provide extra security and funds verification. But when purchasing items that require the consumer to be a certain age, they often have to present additional identification, which can sometimes be challenging and cumbersome for everyone involved.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Age Verification Card Method provides a single method for both payment and age verification. A user just needs to enrol online to receive their card by securely filling out an application for a card. When registered, information is verified and the card is approved and issued to the user. A microchip containing the user’s personal information will either be embedded within the existing microchip or placed on a separate area on the debit or credit card. If a minor attempts to buy alcohol, lottery tickets, or tobacco, either a buzzer sound or popup message will alert the salesclerk not to proceed with the sale. This will streamline consumer purchases while maintaining a secure and safe method of information sharing for purchase of age restricted products and services.

OBJECTIVES

The developers of the Age Verification Card Method are offering to license the manufacturing and distribution rights to qualified organizations. These organizations should be capable of producing the product and/or accessing the appropriate markets with the product.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION
The Age Verification Card Method is the subject of Patent Pending in Canada and the US. Other territories are being considered on an as needed basis.
