To supply the global market with a simple solution to prevent wasps from building their nests In roof vents, thereby reducing the health issue caused by mould.

THE SITUATION

Extensive research finds wasps seek safe places to build nests and often start building them in the covers of bathroom, kitchen and dryer exhaust roof jacks because of the protection the insect feels the cover provides. Often several nests will be built and then abandoned as they cannot grow them any larger. In many cases, the wasps return year after year to the same vent even after original nests are removed. The nests obstruct the flapper/damper from properly opening, if at all, and results in a blockage. The building occupant is rarely aware of this as the fan will still operate and sound normal. The pressurized air from the fan will either cause the ducting in the attic to come loose or force itself through joints and fill the attic with warm moist air from bathrooms or kitchens which condensates on the under side of the roof sheathing. When this happens day after day, organic growth also known as mould starts growing on the interior attic surfaces, causing a serious health issue.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The device uses a clear vent cover to trick the wasps into thinking their previously desired area either does not exist or is not safe, as it is no longer a dark, covered, protected spot and may be in clear view of a predator. Therefore, they would buzz on and pick a different location to nest. This prevents blockages from wasps nests, thereby insuring better air quality for occupants, making it the best option for homeowners and helping prevent the growth of black mould and associated health risks.  

OBJECTIVES

The developers of the Clear Vent Cover are offering to license the manufacturing and distribution rights to qualified organizations. These organizations should be capable of producing the product and/or accessing the appropriate markets with the product.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION
The Clear Vent Cover is the subject of Patent Pending in Canada and the US. Other territories are being considered on an as needed basis.
