To supply the global market with a simple solution to keep fire fighters safe by preventing the entanglement of their equipment with exposed building elements.

THE SITUATION

During fire fighter operations, wires can be present that can get caught around fire fighters which can be potentially fatal. All fire fighters train to get out of wire entanglements but in some cases the wires can get wrapped around components of the SCBA which greatly increase the time to extricate. With a limited amount of air, time can mean the life of the firefighter.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Entanglement Prevention System For Breathing Apparatus prevents the entanglement of equipment with exposed building elements. The flexible straps and the semi-flexible loops help deflect the wires. This greatly reduces the time for extrication with the reduction of points where wires and other elements can be caught. The SCBA wire entanglement preventer does not interfere with current methods of changing SCBA bottles or other safety devices. It prevents entanglement by attaching to the backplate and to the shoulder straps of the SCBA. This combined with the flexible self-rescue ring prevents wires from sliding between the backplate and the SCBA tank. At the bottom of the SCBA the wire entanglement preventer extends around the valve assembly which decreases the chances of wires getting entangled in the valve assembly and first stage regulator but still allows access to turn the bottle on and off and bottle removal. It is safe, easy to use, and helps prevent snags and entrapments dangerous to the life of a firefighter.

OBJECTIVES

The developers of the Entanglement Prevention System For Breathing Apparatus are offering to license the manufacturing and distribution rights to qualified organizations. These organizations should be capable of producing the product and/or accessing the appropriate markets with the product.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

The Entanglement Prevention System For Breathing Apparatus is the subject of Patent Pending in Canada and the US. Other territories are being considered on an as needed basis.
