THE SITUATION

Most home improvement and construction work requires climbing up and down ladders often, however climbing up and down ladders is very physically demanding. Step ladders sometimes have to be moved several times before the position is correct for performing the task. Also, if a painter needs to move along the ceiling or wall, they need to continually climb up and down ladders, which is why we created the Lightweight Work Platform.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Lightweight Work Platform is a powered lifting and driving platform which lifts a person to a height of 1.5 meters and weighs less than 35 kg, allowing it to be carried by only one person. It is designed with powered wheels, making it easy for workers moving from point A to point B, and the swivel feature allows for angled movement. The driving feature saves a tremendous amount of time because when working at the ceiling height the position is of critical importance. Step ladders sometimes have to be moved several times before the position is correct for performing a task. The toolbox on the side is designed to hold tools while working, thereby preventing accidental drops. It can be powered by a small 18-volt rechargeable battery similar to those used in cordless tools. 

OBJECTIVES

The developers of the Lightweight Work Platform are offering to license the manufacturing and distribution rights to qualified organizations. These organizations should be capable of producing the product and/or accessing the appropriate markets with the product.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION
The Lightweight Work Platform is the subject of Patent Pending in Canada and the US. Other territories are being considered on an as needed basis.
