THE SITUATION

Roofs are typically installed over existing felt or wooden shingle roofs for convenience. However, both interior air moisture and external air moisture contribute to the total moisture content in gaps between the old and new roof.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The Perforated Eave Trim and Roof Ventilation System is an edging system for steel roofs that eliminates moisture condensation problems by creating airflow from the edge of the roof to the peak. Wood strapping is attached to the existing roof to establish a space for airflow between the two roof systems.  The steel roofing is then attached to the roof and the perforated eve trim is installed to the edge of the roof system. Air is then taken in through the perforated edge and rising inside between the two layers of roofing material that then expelled at the peak through a roof vent.

OBJECTIVES

The developers of the Perforated Eave Trim and Roof Ventilation System are offering to license the manufacturing and distribution rights to qualified organizations. These organizations should be capable of producing the product and/or accessing the appropriate markets with the product.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION

The Perforated Eave Trim and Roof Ventilation System is the subject of Patent allowed in the US and pending in Canada. Other territories are being considered on an as needed basis.
